South Bay Summer Adventure #3: Fusion Food in Gardena

Gardena is the culinary capital of the South Bay. Located between Torrance and Hawthorne (easily accessible by the 405 of 110 freeways), this quiet town is home to many restaurants gems. From Hawaiian, Chinese, Peruvian, Korean, Italian, and Japanese there is always something new to discover in Gardena. Italian is one of my favorite foods and there is one restaurant that comes to mind for Italian Fusion—Spoon House a Japanese/Italian.

Spoon House $$: Prepare to wait during peak hours, small restaurant. Sit at the bar to watch the chefs in action. Great place for small groups 2-4, probably cannot accommodate larger groups. Parking can be tough there is a small lot in the back of the restaurants and some street parking up front. Pasta is perfectly Al Dente and the menu is filled with tasty fusion dishes such as Japanese Style Cod Roe with Sea Urchin or Japanese Clam Sauce. The menu does not have any appetizer, but they provided freshly baked French bread that is also available for purchase. What to Order? $1 Salad, Spoon House Napolitano, Bolognese, or the Japanese Style Clam Sauce (Pasta is about $8-11). If you have a large appetite they provide the option of Large Portion for a couple dollars more. If you are looking for dessert, go to Papa Beards in the market across the street or grab a Milk Tea at Tea Station.
