Krabi Adventure #1: Krabi Overview

Sorry for the hiatus my birthday weekend and Labor Day threw me off. This week’s Adventures will focus on a trip that the BF and I took this year— Thailand. Originally, we thought of spending a week in Bangkok however because of the political turmoil we decided to spend most of our vacation in Krabi. Krabi is a laid back beach community an hour plan ride from busy Bangkok. We flew from Don Mueang International Aiport (DMK); we found that DMK was cheaper that weekend than BKK. The most popular place to stay in Krabi is Ao Nong where there are plenty of hotels, restaurants, and nightlife for your trip. From the Krabi Airport there are two options to get to Ao Nong, a 25-30 minute Taxi (also known as Private Car) for 600 Baht (less than $20 USD) or a Shuttle for 150 Baht ($5 USD). The shuttle will take about 50 minutes to an hour drive however the private car will take you 20 minutes. We booked our hotel Best Western Ao Nong through Expedia Deal for $69/ Day + breakfast. The hotel was comfortable and steps away from the beach and the main strip of shops and restaurants. Few tips from the hotel: Don’t book any tours at the airport or the car ride going to Ao Nong—it’s overpriced. Bring cash, the ATMs at the airport tend to run out of money and the shuttle/taxi cars accept Cash. The next couple of post will focus on specific activities and experiences we had on our trip. Hopefully our experience will influence you to visit this beautiful place.
