Krabi Adventure #2: Island Hopping
Krabi is surrounded by many beautiful island groups all accessible by boat or a tour packages. There are four main Island Hopping Tours: Phi Phi Island, Hong Island, 4 Island, and James Bond Island. If you want to concentrate on one island a long boat can take you for about $10 round trip. All these activities can be booked when you get there; do not book from anyone advertising at the airport.
We decided to take a boat tour to the gorgeous Phi Phi Islands. We again booked this tour through our hotel concierge when we arrived at Krabi. We were able to negotiate about 300 Baht off the asking price of 1,500 Baht so the grand total was 1,200 Baht or $35 USD, anything more than that they are ripping you off. This tour includes tour, lunch, water, snacks. The tour group picks you up from the hotel around 8:30 am for a 9:00 am tour. Make sure you bring a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a cover up. Everything should be included so bring enough money for beer and tip. Depending on the tour schedule you stop at 3-5 times during the trip, twice to snorkel and the rest of the time at the beach. All beach/park fees should be included in your tour price so don’t shell out any money on the island unless it’s for a beer. The tour guide usually gives you about 45 minutes to 1 hour for the stop. This isn’t a tour for relaxing its more of sightseeing… here are some of the stops:

Phi Phi Ley or Maya beach famous from the Beach
Phi Phi Don where you will stop to have lunch.
