Hollywood Adventure #2: Night at the Theater

Built in the 1930’s by Greek Immigrant Alexander Pantages, the Pantages Theater is one of Los Angeles leading venues for live theater. Its art deco theme and historical atmosphere is the perfect spot for a Girls Night Out or a special date night. Here is the game plan: Take the Metro Red Line and exit Hollywood & Vine, right under the W Hotel. This takes right across the street from the theater. Shows usually start at 8pm every day.

Get there a couple of hours early for a nice dinner at Cleo at the Redbury Hotel, my favorite place for Mediterranean style Tapas. I would try the: Hummus, Artichokes with Olivers, Spanikopita, Shrimp Briouts. Skip the Kibbeh but don’t skip dessert— Sticky Toffee Pudding. Show your ticket at receive 10% off at Cleo.

If can’t make it early to the theater stop by the Redbury Hotel after dinner to hang out at the Library Bar on the second floor. Grab a seat on the patio to relax on a LA Night.

Tips

Tickets can be bought at Ticketmaster or use Goldstar which is an online ticket retailer that sell tickets up to 50% off. The only risk with Goldstar is you won’t know what seats you are in until you get there an hour before the show starts. In my experience, the seats we get assigned to are either Orchestra/Back/Center or Orchestra/Middle/Left or Right.

Parking: If you have to park there are a couple of lots around the Pantages that charge $10-20 depending on the night. Street Parking in Limited!

Dress Code: When I go to the theater I try to dress to impress! However I have noticed that people tend to go casual during the matinee shows.

Upcoming Shows: Jersey Boys, Train, Pippin, Kinky Boots, Wicked.
