Chi Town Adventure #2: Brunch + Art

One of the first things on our travel itinerary was to visit the Chicago Art Institute. It features a collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art in its permanent collection. It also includes American art, Old Masters, European and American decorative arts, Asian art, modern and contemporary art, and architecture and industrial and graphic design. Chicago Art Institute is located at Grant Park is home to many notable works: Georges-Pierre Seurat, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, Vincent van Gogh, Self-portrait, Claude Monet, Water Lilies, Pablo Picasso, just to name a few. Pick up a map at the front desk that will map out all these famous paintings.

Logistic & Tips: Open 10:30am to 5pm Daily; General Admission $23 there is a discount for Illinois Residence and students; fast pass are available for $33 if the museum is really crowded; buy tickets at the door; Allot 2-3 hours to look around this place, if you are an art enthusiast maybe more; The Art Institute of Chicago App is also helpful to navigate the galleries and Artwork; No Flash Photograph is allowed; Valet Parking is available for $25/car at the Modern Wing Entrance; underground lots, walking, or public transportation should be the ideal way to get here.

Make sure you are fed before you get to museum; museum food is expensivey. I suggest have brunch at The Gage a casual gastro pub right next to Millennium Park. Try to make reservations so you don’t have to wait but if you can’t sit at the bar area or the patio. Price $$-$$$ Few favorites here Chesapeake Bay Crab Cakes, The Gage Venison Burger, and Mussels Vinaloo.
